Really nice meal with my partner, really good atmosphere, and excellent food

We came as a family for Christmas Day lunch and had a brilliant experience. Me and my husband have dined before so this was our second time at Six. All staff were absolutely amazing, so friendly and welcoming! Santa being there on Xmas day with chocolates and gifts for the children was such a special touch. Food was amazing as always. Will definitely be back again soon and definitely recommend for Xmas day. Espresso martini was the best we ever had. 10/10 xxxxx

The best restaurant in Cambridge!!! Once again another fantastic experience at the Six. We booked, as a family, for our Daughters graduation and everything was perfect. The staff go above and beyond to make the occasion so special, the bar staff, waiters and waitresses, the chefs and especially the manager, Edgar, who is so attentive. The cocktails are top class and delicious!! We did book a later table and requested two whole lobsters for main course. Unfortunately the last lobster had been served but Edgar made a quick phone call and sourced two amazing whole lobsters whilst we were enjoying our starters. The menu is varied and interesting, the head chef was not in when we visited but the two chefs leading the team were absolutely incredible, food cooked to perfection with fantastic flavours. The Six is more expensive than most standard restaurants but with a location overlooking the city of Cambridge, beautiful views, the best staff, cocktails and excellent food, it’s worth every penny. Once again thank you all for looking after us and making the end of our day so special!!

Perched elegantly above the city, The Six rooftop restaurant at The Varsity Hotel is nothing short of sublime—a jewel in Cambridge’s culinary crown. With sweeping views of the historic skyline and a refined atmosphere that strikes the perfect balance between modern chic and old-world charm, this is a dining experience that lingers in memory long after the final bite. Our party indulged in a trio of masterfully prepared dishes: the Moroccan lamb skewer—succulent, aromatic, and grilled to tender perfection; the shrimp couscous—delicate yet bursting with Mediterranean flair; and the chicken curry—a rich, warmly spiced revelation that would give any Michelin-starred menu a run for its money. Dessert, however, was where The Six ascended to gastronomic greatness. The homemade apple crumble was comfort incarnate, but it was the sticky toffee pudding that truly stole the show—lush, decadent, and perfectly balanced. It has instantly entered our Top 5 Puddings of All Time list, and justifiably so. The handcrafted cocktails were bespoke brilliance. The Basil Grande—a fragrant, herbaceous concoction—was positively divine, each sip a celebration. Service throughout was attentive yet unobtrusive, befitting the restaurant’s upscale tone. Even the restroom experience deserves applause: immaculate facilities stocked with Elemis products—a luxe touch that perfectly echoes The Six’s commitment to excellence in every detail. A word to the wise: reservations are essential—this is not the sort of place you stumble upon; it’s a destination. And rightly so. After a serene afternoon punting on the River Cam with Scudamore’s, The Six is the ideal capstone to a fabulous day out in Cambridge. A meal here isn’t just dinner—it’s an occasion. Quite simply, posh perfection.

The place and the view are absolutely breathtaking, and the food matches them. All the food was delicious but if I had to choose my favourite it will most definitely be the wild mushroom risotto. Also, the staff was lovely, specially our waiter Ed, very attentive. 100% recommend

Absolutely phenomenal food, so full of flavour and large portions. I got the Moroccan Lamb Skewer with rice and Creamy Mashed Potato and it blew my mind. Delicious! Service was outstanding, the restaurant was clean, welcoming and warm. It looks amazing and feels so cozy. Would highly recommend!

The food was great and the atmosphere. They serve Pisco Sour which is a plus for me. We had an amazing time.

Six is the best place for stunning views of the city and a quality meal. I’m not a local, so maybe I had my rose colored glasses on during my visit, but my guests and I had a lovely time at Six. We were able to make same-day reservations on a Friday around 7:30pm. The singer really set the vibe of a nice, even romantic evening. We were seated on the outside terrace so we could watch the sunset as we ate. Ordered the scallops, burrata, and a variety of mains and cocktails. All were fantastic, especially the drinks. Props to the bartenders. Our waitress Akari was the sweetest and super patient with us. She definitely contributed to our good experience. Overall a perfect place for a dinner with friends, a loved one, or even after-work drinks. Couldn’t have asked for a better way to close out my Cambridge visit.
